In the early 90s, a new project called The World Wide Web was released to the world. This revolutionized the world, changing how we live almost entirely. Chances are, you’re reading this on the Internet right now.
In the early 2010s, a website called The Kiwi Farms (CWCki Forums at the time) was released to the world, too. The creator of this website, Joshua Moon, affectionally referred to as Null, Jersh, et al, has gone through many, many, many hoops and loopholes to keep this website active.
So, Kiwi Farms is “bad”, at least depending on how you look at it. Kiwi Farms has received dozens of subpoenas and a handful of lawsuits over the years, which should give you an idea of just how “bad” it is. Recently, Josh has teamed up with an ISP called Path. Since Josh hosts his website(s) on his own hardware, he needs to partner with an ISP to get his stuff online. Simple, right?
Well, apparently someone featured on a thread works for Path. I’m not going to say their name until this whole ordeal is over, so I don’t get involved. On April 1st, ironic timing I know, Kiwi Farms went down. After some inspection from Josh, he knew it wasn’t a DDoS. He suspected that Path could have been involved and may have tried to pull the plug on the farms.
A couple of hours after the site went down, it appeared online again. But this time, with an unsettling message: Path.net is trying to have our harddrives seized. This text linked to a thread (archive) which explained more in detail what was going on. He writes off for the night, stating his final thoughts on the event:
Takeaways for tonight:
1. I am more confident in our Upstream than ever. They have navigated this very bizarre situation as competently as one could hope.
2. While there is the looming threat of Path pursuing legal action, as of now nothing has been filed.
3. I have deleted some sensitive information from my drives and will review our data retention policies tomorrow morning.
Don't do anything stupid.
This is where my writing ends, but I’m certain this isn’t the end for the farms.
(This is just something I scribbled out and thought it could entertain someone, plus my Substack is lacking in content. Hope you enjoyed.)

Nice one!
